Bench Pressed
Bench Pressed is owned and operated by Andy & Jane Shannon, a husband and wife team in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They started Bench Pressed out of their spare bedroom in 2012 and have been creating “tongue in cheek with a little sweet” letterpress greeting cards ever since.

Where did the name of your studio come from?
The name "Bench Pressed" came before the business. We were trying to think of a name that showed our letterpress roots while also having a sense of humor. While neither of us are especially fit (or do any real bench pressing) it seems to fit us well.

How did you get into design and letterpress printing?
We got into the stationery world through a mix of art and retail. Andy did his undergrad in Illustration and printmaking and Jane worked as a stationery buyer at a small boutique in Minneapolis. The love of both things merged when we bought a little table top press and printed our first cards.

What kind of press(es) do you use?
We have three presses in our shop: a little table top press, a hand-fed Chander and Price and a Heidelberg windmill. We printed the "Birthday Flags" for Nicely Noted on the Heidelberg windmill.
